Hmm? It’s not like I feel a disconnect with ZARD’s albums, it’s just that so far they’re all sounding the same to me. HOLD ME is her third album, an it’s not bad in the least, it’s actually a pretty decent album. It’s just that none of the songs really jump out and grab me, not even Nemurenai Yoru wo Daite which was the only track I gave three stars to. ZARD has a really nice voice, it really washes over you in the most pleasant of ways, yet I get such a moody and or lonely bar vibe from her music. Another one that you can just put on and play without skipping a track; long drive type of album.

I actually had to listen to ZARD’s sophomore album I Won’t Search Anymore twice because I wasn’t quite sure if I had given the songs the correct ratings the first time around. It did play a bit better, but I was still left very indifferent. I know I say that they aren’t bad songs a lot, because they aren’t, it’s just something about them that I like but they don’t stand out as much as say the 3 star songs I rate. The only songs that I can say kinda stood out where Fushigi ne… and Lonely Soldier Boy. ZARD has a pleasant voice, so it saves the tracks from being boring or throwaway. Sadly, they just don’t stick in I’m left feeling somewhat underwhelmed once it’s over.

It’s mini album length. I mean it’s close enough, yet a full album to me is one with ten tracks or more. Felt the same way with Bonnie Pink’s Blue Jam; like I should have skipped over this one like I did with hers, going straight to her second album, which flows a lot better. Goodbye My Loneliness is Zard’s debut album and it’s like a majority of the albums I’ve reviewed. OK. It’s just a very odd listen as aside from the title track and Onna de Itai (which is a pretty good track), I just don’t get it. They’re not bad, they just go over my head. It’s a Boy is a pretty smooth track to end the album on, even if it does sound like another version of Oh! Sugar Baby to me for some reason. Sadly, Zard passed away in 2007 so as with Ritsuko Okazaki I will be reviewing their music released up until their deaths.
