I’m not really sure how I feel about Miliyah Kato’s sophomore album Diamond Princess. I do know that I like it a little less than her debut. I’ve said before Miliyah doesn’t really, I believe, have an album that I particularly dislike. The same can be said about this album, I don’t dislike it, but I do like her debut more. Even so there were some tracks on here that stood out and I really enjoyed such as: Stay Like This Until The Morning, FAMILY and Wonderful. The rest aside from Cry no more and So special are merely OK. Diamond Princess is a decent listen, even if it is a little on the so-so side. Miliyah’s voice is nice (a little mediocre sounding in her earlier albums), but still good and unique in it’s own way. Miliyah’s tracks are unique enough to not come off as stale or boring an that’s what I think I like the most about Miliyah and her music.

I got into Miliyah Kato when I heard her 19 Memories song. Even though I enjoyed that particular song, I didn’t think I was going to really keep up with her like that. I thought I would get bored with Miliyah like I did with AI. Rose is her debut album and I like it, not as much as her later more love-oriented albums. Yet for a debut this is one I can listen to over and over again. Which is rare ’cause as I’ve said I always come out feeling very indifferent about debut albums or not really liking them aside from a few songs. Miliyah has a nice voice to and she knows how to work it to her advantage. Also, surprisingly Miliyah is one of those handful of rare artists I follow in which she doesn’t have an album I truly dislike. I find that I always enjoy her albums. Nice debut, nothing original, but I love her style and she hasn’t strayed too far from it since.
