What an interesting album; in both a good and bad way. Pikapika Fantajin is Kyary’s third an so far most recent studio album (I found out after I reviewed this album that she is about to release her fourth). I’m not really sure on what I should say about it as I am still so very confused at the fact that I actually like her music enough to feature her. I tend to like Kyary’s albums in a distant sort of way, but at the same time I find her just fascinating. I shouldn’t take her serious, but I do. This album is a bit of a mixed bag; it’s a rather decent album all the same. The tracks that stood out were Sparking Killer an surprisingly Wasteful Nightland and Tokyo Highway hence why they’re the only tracks to earn the 3 star rating. The rest aren’t bad but play like odd little filler tracks: do do pi do being the most random of them all, well that and Serious Eyes, Family Party -album mix-, Ring a Bell and Terrible Aura -album mix-. Even so, this is a album I could play through and rarely skip a track. A step down from her second album, yet probably on the same level as her debut.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s second album What’s This Collection? is actually a really decent listen. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I wasn’t really expecting to like this album as much as I do. I honestly find it surprising that Kyary’s voice doesn’t annoy me half as much as I think it should. I’m not not saying I didn’t get a tad annoyed with some of the tracks, but I actually found this album to be a rather fun and engaging listen. I especially liked Invader Invader which surprised me. Her first album wasn’t bad, but it loses points because the songs didn’t really jump out and stick with me. I had to go back an re-listen to tracks to see which one I liked and didn’t so much like. What’s This Collection? is definitely a step up from her debut and I honestly think I prefer her brand of auto-tune pop or Perfume’s.

Out of all the artists that I am reviewing I think I am the most surprised with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, even though I also have Perfume on the roster. I just wasn’t here for her and I don’t really care too much for her style of music, it was I thought a little too weird for me. Her debut album Pamyupamyu Revolution isn’t half bad and it wasn’t as ear-grating as I had originally thought it would be. I actually like the sound of Kyaru’s voice and I think her music is pretty creative. As I’ve stated ┬ábefore didn’t think I would really be into her music, but after listening to her singles I decided that maybe I could get use to her if I gave her a chance. It’s nothing ground-breaking or original, but a really decent debut.
