I surprisingly feel the same way about infinite’s third album TOP SEED that I did about their second, oddly disappointed. It’s just weird how not one song jumped out at me or pulled me in. They aren’t bad tracks, but they just don’t stand out and seem to bleed into each other. The solos, well… Dongwoo and L’s solo’s weren’t bad, Sungjong’s was kinda boring and forgettable. After their first album it just seems like they’re way too experimental for me an not even a good kind like with BTD in Paradise; none of the songs are even catchy. They’re decently sung of course, but after the song is over I’ve forgotten it. I know Hoya left the group, an I’m sad about that because I like his subgroup with DongWoo. I’m not sure where my disconnect is coming from with infinite, because I was a stan when they first came out, but now I don’t even care what they release. I honestly wish they would go back to their old sound. This is just another album that I can put on and play through, but that’s it. Background noise.

What can I say about infinite’s second Korean album, other than I thought I would like it a lot more than I did. It’s strange… but Season 2 just plays so lazily to me. There was not one song that really popped out and captured my intention, not one song that really interested me. I thought for a second that Rosinante and Memories had yet upon second listen it was a no-go. It just seemed like I was listening to different versions of the same song. The album became a boring blur after awhile and none of their vocals stood out, not even on the solos. I’m a little surprised that Sungkyu’s didn’t (I love his Because solo off their first album). Over The Top just seemed more genuine and fun to me. Season 2 just seemed like they were phoning in their lines. It’s not a bad album, just a disappointing one.

Infinite is a group I didn’t think I would like but I ended up liking a lot. It’s not everyday I look pass the music an actually get into the members to invest in knowing their names and their personalities and so on… I’ve been out of the loop with infinite for awhile now though, since being a mom keeps me from being a fangirl as much as I would like to be or once was. Over The Top is their first Korean album and it’s OK. Well, maybe a little better than OK. What I mean is it’s not as memorable as I’d hoped it be, especially since infinite tends to release really ear-catching songs. You have the stand-out tracks like Paradise and Julia; but on the other hand you have the songs that are just there like 1-3 and Tic-Toc. So, in my opinion Over The Top is a mixture of hit and miss to me.
