I think I may like Akina’s fourth album NEW AKINA Etranger, but then again maybe not. I believe that even though I forgot the songs on her previous album once it was over, I do feel as if they popped out at me more. Akina’s voice is good on here, but none of the tracks really jump out at me. I wasn’t particularly wowed by any single track on this album, despite finding Akina’s vocals as pleasant as they always are. The only track I guess that really did anything for me was the ballad Kanshokiko, however that isn’t really saying much. I just really liked her vocals on that track; Venus Tanjo as well. It’s an all right, but somewhat forgettable album.

As I have said before Akina Nakamori has a slew of albums, so sometimes it’s going to be a bit difficult to differentiate. I will do my best though. Fantasy ~Gensoukyoku~ is her third album and it’s actually pretty good and stands out a lot more than her previous two albums which didn’t seem to have much of a presence to me. The exception being the really good track Image no Kakeri. Akina’s voice is really niceobviously, this album has that 80’s vibe that I actually surprisingly like. I love how she was the anti-thesis to pop, it made her very interesting. The album isn’t anything special, it’s a pretty standard album with a few good tracks: Ruri-iro no Yoru e, Nigiwai no Kisetsuhe and Kizudarake no Love to name a few. It fades after a listen, but I do like it more than her previous two albums.

I really don’t want to end up repeating myself, especially considering how many albums Akina has under her belt. However, I regard her sophomore album Variation -Hensoukyoku- just as I regarded her first, it’s not bad, but it’s not memorable either. I found that I enjoyed the more slower paced, ballad oriented tracks more than the uptempo tracks. I just feel that her voice is much more suited for power ballad or ballad type songs, so tracks such as Cancel! and Shojo A though decent, just did nothing for me. It’s always difficult for me to review an album that doesn’t stick, like it fades away once I’m done listening to it so I end up having to go back and re-listen to review or figure which tracks I like. Whether good or bad it should stay with me. Akina has a slew of albums though, so I’m sure eventually one will do it for me.

Akina Nakamori is one of the few artists I have in my line-up with a shit-ton of albums, so I’m really hoping that I don’t end up repeating myself. The same with Momoe Yamaguchi and Seiko Matsuda. Prologue ~Jomaku~┬áis Akina’s debut album and though she has a really, REALLY nice voice this album didn’t really do anything for me; with the exception of Image no Kageri. No, it’s not a boring album, the songs just don’t stick. I dislike listening to an album in once it’s over I only remember a handful of songs, because there’s no real variety–everything just sounds the same. It’s not a terrible debut (cause she can sing), it’s just a meh type of album for me.
