Crimson is Aikawa Nanase’s third album and it use to be my least favorite album from her. It honestly may still be… but I don’t dislike it as much as I once did. I think the main thing that turned me off of this album was how utterly forgettable it was in kinda still is. Crimson doesn’t have much of a presence, it’s kind of like a less annoying but blander version of her debut. The only track that really stands out is A Night Where I Can’t Sleep, such a beautifully poignant song. I thought Aikawa’s voice in this ballad was simply gorgeous and it’s actually my favorite song from her. Tender Song was also a good ballad, but it didn’t really stick and seemed to go on longer than it should have. The other tracks are OK, but I’ve heard better up and mid-tempo tracks from her. This is a decent album, but possibly her weakest offering, this and Red.

I really don’t want to sound like I’m repeating myself, because I said the same thing about the last two albums I recently reviewed. Yet it’s true, this is a step up from her first album. Aikawa Nanase’s sophomore album is paraDOX and even though it’s a little unmemorable to me, I do like it more than Red. It’s like half her first album, half it’s own thing. As it’s not as bland nor are the songs quite as weird. Koigokoro is one of the first songs by Aikawa I heard, and was at one point my favorite song from her. Sweet Emotion is also another good one, and they stick with you. I was also pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Love merry-go-round. The ballads where nice, but sadly didn’t stand out as much to me and I hate that because I feel like her ballads are severely underrated. ParaDOX is OK, a bit better than her first; just wish it was more memorable. I don’t like listening to an album and then forgetting it, it makes reviewing it a chore.

I had stopped listening to Aikawa for a long while and just recently not too long ago picked her back up. I’m not really a fan of rock music, however I adore Aikawa Nanase… she is such a special case to me. Red is her debut album. It isn’t as awful as I use to think it was, but it’s still not good persay. I always thought of it as very boring and forgettable, only liking maybe a small handful of songs. As it stands this is quite possibly my LEAST favorite album from her, maybe. There are some really stand out tracks on here; even from songs I didn’t too much care for when I first got into her like SHAKE ME BABY and BYE BYE! Decent enough debut.
