Hmm? Aren’t You Crazy? -GO CRAZY!- is 2PM’s third Korean album an I’ve dug their albums up to this point. I’m not sure what the disconnect is, but I just found my interest waning the more the album went on. I didn’t too much care for Grown, however I liked the mature sound of it. 2PM didn’t regress with this album, it just felt empty and as if it was put out just to be put out. None of the songs really popped out at me. I really dislike this, I like for at least one song to just be catchy or good enough to stay with me. I mean it’s alright I guess, the tracks are competently sung. It might be one of those albums I can put on for background music, but I just found it oddly dull in lacking. Even the title just alludes me, because I didn’t get that sense of going crazy, not even from the so-called up tempo tracks. Aren’t You Crazy? -GO CRAZY!- plays like one of those albums an artist a put out to fulfill a contract obligation, but no real heart goes into it. Hopefully their fifth album is better, this is definitely a step down from Grown.

2PM’s third Korean album is titled Grown and after listening to this album I can see why they chose that name. There is such a huge swift from the rnb sound of their first an second Korean albums to this one. I was actually pleasantly surprised by it. The songs aren’t as explosive or in your face like the tracks on their previous albums, instead they sort of sneak up on you in catch you by surprise. For example I wasn’t feeling Ha.Ni.Ppun until I got to the chorus an that’s kind of how it was with the majority of the tracks on here. Even so it stilled played like a mixed bag of an album, and I only ended up really liking four songs. The second disc showcases their solo tracks which is pretty much the norm especially with male groups, I’ve noticed. It’s alright, but I wasn’t really wowed by any of the solo tracks and sadly disappointed with Nichkyun’s solo effort. I did surprisingly like Chansung’s second solo the most and the track Call My Name. This is a decent an somewhat mature album from them, yet I prefer their previous two albums over this one.

2PM’s second Korean album is a lot better than their first, despite it sounding liked an alternate 1:59PM to me, anyway. This is one of those albums where all the songs just pop out at me, so it was actually hard to pick one I disliked. I just picked HOT because its the only track that didn’t stick with me afterwards. Their first album was a bit too mild for me and only half interesting. It seemed like this was the start of them coming into their own; especially after the departure of Jay Park, who was also their leader. The up-tempo’s balanced out the more softer or ballad orientated tracks. Also, it’s one of the few albums that I wouldn’t mind giving a straight through listen without skipping any tracks. I stopped listening to 2PM for years after Jay exited, but I’m glad I finally gave them a second chance. I surely hope their Japanese album’s are just as good.

This is 2PM’s first Korean album and it’s a pretty decent listen. It falls a bit short, but it’s a pretty solid listen, one of the better ones I’ve heard. You of course have your forgettable run of the mill tracks; however, the majority of the songs are decently sung, catchy, engaging and fun (I like the more R&B infused tracks like Back 2U and the Heartbeat remix). Also aside from Tired of Waiting, I Was Crazy Over You and Only You -Acoustic mix-, this album has pretty good replay value. Sadly, it’s the only album to feature former member and leader Jay Park.
