… Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip is TLC’s debut album, released back in ’92. I was a huge TLC fan, favorite member was T-Boz but Left-Eye was my bias. I’m not too sure on where I should even start with this album… I mean it wasn’t what I expected it would be. I’m not even sure what I expected it to be, but it kinda was all over the place with a common theme of independence and women empowerment. I also liked the safe sex thing they had going on too. I think the oddest thing about this album is the fact that it is both stand-out thanks to tracks like What About Your Friends and Baby Baby Baby and forgettable because the album only tracks just don’t come out at you like their singles. Even Ain’t To Proud To Bed and Hat 2 Da Back have a certain flair to them that is lacking in bizarre track Shock Dat Monkey and the tracks that seem to sound like different versions of the other: Das da Way We Like ‘Em, Bad by Myself, Somethin’ You Wanna Know, This Is How It Should Be Done and Depend On Myself. The only album only track that I really liked an in which stood out to me was His Story, the rest I won’t say were bad but it was more like I liked the chorus and just didn’t care for the verses. The interludes in whatnot were kinda pointless as well and seemed tacked on to stretch the album out further. This is my first time listening to Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip, and my favorite album from them is obviously CrazySexyCool, so I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s a little bit like my feelings with Aaliyah’s first album. I thought I would like it, but just didn’t.

  • favorite track – Baby Baby Baby
least favorite track – Shock Dat Monkey
guilty pleasure track – What About Your Friends?
    under-rated track – His Story
