thoughts. B.
I really liked Shimatani Hitomi when I first got into her music, then when Flare was released I literally stopped listening to her for a few years and it was solely because of how utterly disappointed I was with it compared to her previous album (I will talk about that later when I get around to reviewing it). PAPILLION is her debut album and the title track I believe is a cover of Janet Jackson’s Doesn’t Really Matter. It’s not bad and is probably my second least favorite album from her, after Flare; which isn’t saying much. Shimatani’s voice is pleasant and the Spanish influence of the songs really suit her and made this album a little more interesting than it would have been, had she not decided to spice it up a little. It is a bit bland, especially after repeated listens but the tracks, a majority of them, are good and well sung.

  • favorite track – Going to the Market
least favorite track – ~papillion~ Butterfly
    guilty pleasure track – sugary
    under-rated track – Absolute Temperature
