I always find that with a lot of my favorite artists I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to their debut albums. One day I’ll listen to one and not really like it, then another day I will come back, listen to it again and find that it’s a bit better. I’m feeling the former with Misia’s debut album Mother Father Brother Sister. It’s passable ’cause Misia has a great voice, but on the other hand it doesn’t stand out as much as some of her later albums. I find myself half and half when it comes to Misia and her music. There are albums from her I love and some I think are just OK. Shockingly (considering this is Misia and she always has at least one stand out) no song on this album really stood out to me. A decent debut, but sub-par compared to what I know Misia can really offer.
